Nature and Planning Concept
Lingang City is a hinterland and major distribution center of Yangshan Deep Water Port. As a new comprehensive sub-city of Shanghai, Lingang City gets its industrial support from Yangshan Port, International Airport hub and the national-grade equipment and manufacturing park. Besides, it radiates its charm in every other aspects—social and economic development, environment, culture and so on. About all, it is a garden embraced by trees, rivers, blue sky and the natrue mother.
Central Living Area is a symbolic precinct of Lingang City both in terms of the vigorous coastal elements it radiates and urban construction trend it presents for the new century. Environmentally conscious, information-oriented, developed port industry,
international standard and maritime culture, it boasts all the necessities that a future city should have.

Spacial Layout

Design Inspiration
The design inspiration coming from GMP—an international designing corporation from Germany, goes like this: a crystal bead falling from the heaven arouses ripples which form the major structure of the whole area.
The area, with Dishui Lake (also known as Waterdrop Lake) as its core, adopts the pattern of “garden city”. The roads and urban rings expand from the inner core and form the physical structure of the area described as one center and four urban rings.

Epicenter　

Central Living Area is a coastal garden area,who gets its planning inspiration from the experience of famous port cities worldwide. Dishui Lake—round in shape, around 2.5 kilometers in diameter and about 5 square kilometers large—is located at the center. Three peninsulas in the lake with different sizes, shapes and functions will add to the beauty of the lake. Dishui Lake is a landscape and ecological epicenter of the area.


Functional Belt

First Ring,The first ring is the urban center and mixed-use area with combined functions of offices, commerce, finance, entertainment, cultural events, shopping streets and top grade apartments.
Second Ring (CityPark Ring),Major arterial roads divide the city park ring into six sub-areas, each covering 75 hectares. Rivers and small lakes are connected with DishuiLake. Office buildings and public service facilities scatter around the ring. In the southeast part, there will be top-grade residential areas facing East China Sea.
Third Ring,Eighteen residential communities, also named “CityIslands”, will be placed throughout the ring. The communities are of the same standard—covering a land of 720m×720m (or 720m×810m)and equipped with service facilities. Designed population for each community is about 13,000. In between every “CityIsland” is green spaces which is just like the green lung of the area.
Fourth Ring,As a complementary belt of the third ring, it is placed with six residential communities. In between the communities are green spaces, among which high schools and public service facilites will be reasonable placed.
